The Australian Citizen Medicare Card is the standard card issued to eligable Australian permanent residents and Australian citizens.

The Interim Medicare Card is issued in certain circumstances to persons who have applied for permanent resident status. It is usually issued for a twelve month period.

The Reciprocal Health Care Card is issued to eligible residents travelling between Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, Italy, Belgium, Malta, Slovenia and Norway.
